Service Description

ACTIVITY GUIDELINES The learner must :- Complete all pre-start and running checks before any activity takes place Only complete the shutdown procedures at the end of the test All additional test requirements can be completed in any order Seat belt must be worn if stated in the employer's risk assessment/method statement All PPE as per the employer's risk assessment, must be checked and worn The road sweeper must be serviceable and meet the current legislation The area must be kept clear of pedestrians during operations Candidate must check all-around before moving off or changing direction : Candidate must check tip site for hazards and ground conditions before entering The learner must: Travel through a restriction in a forward and reverse direction Travel at a speed with due regard for site conditions hazards etc. Travel at a suitable speed to ensure correct sweeping operations Prepare and set up the machine for sweeping duties, checking the condition of the brushes and suction tubes and water jets prior to starting operations. Fill water tanks for washing and dust suppression if fitted Sweep an area set by the examiner using the centre brush Sweep a kerb line both straight and following a curve using channel brushes Sweep with due regard to conditions and other site users Use correct method of turning when changing direction Stopping equipment as required to maintain safety and prevent damage Use collection equipment safely and correctly Take all necessary steps to ensure vehicle and pedestrian safety by using appropriate signage, cordoning off or bandsman as required • The operator must check the area prior to entering the tip area • Body lock must be engaged when the body raised • The operator remains clear of the open rear door when raised • Hands and feet stay clear of tipped material Fully lowers body before driving off Check rear door seal is clean before closil door Stop and disengage equipment and fitted transport locks (if applicable) before travelling Sweeper parked in a safe position with equipment lowered, the donkey engine (if applicable) and main engine shut down correctly and isolator key removed and handed to the instructor (as required) Cleaned and checked the machine, recorded and reported any defects, refuelled correctly and safely Ratio Novice 3 people 1 machine 1 instructor Duration: 5 days with 3 max for novice course: 3 people max for refresher training: 3 Experienced worker test 6 people 1:10 per test Price is plus vat
