The CPCS A73 course covers safe marshalling of plant and vehicle movements within a work area. It includes movement-area assessment, route planning, exclusion zones, driver briefings, recognised signals, radio communication, reversing and emergency stopping.

Learning outcomes
• Explain the marshaller’s role, responsibilities and legal obligations for site vehicle movements.
• Assess the movement area, access/egress, visibility, ground, obstructions, crushing/entrapment points and pedestrian interfaces.
• Plan safe vehicle movements, exclusion zones and emergency escape arrangements.
• Brief drivers/operators and agree recognised hand signals, radio protocol and emergency-stop procedures.
• Guide vehicles safely through reversing, turning, restricted and holding-area movements.
• Maintain pedestrian segregation, stop unsafe movement and complete the operation safely.
