Overview
A work-based NVQ for appointed persons and lifting specialists who plan lifting activities and produce safe, workable lifting arrangements.
Who this NVQ is for
Experienced appointed persons who assess lifting requirements, select equipment and resources and prepare lift plans for suspended-load operations.
Learning outcomes
On completion, candidates will be able to:
• Define the lifting task, load, sequence, interfaces and responsibilities.
• Assess site, ground, access, proximity and environmental risks and establish suitable controls.
• Select lifting equipment, configurations, accessories and personnel for the task.
• Evaluate capacity, radius, duty, stability and other technical information needed for the plan.
• Prepare lift plans, drawings, risk controls, method information and communication arrangements.
• Plan site preparation and deployment of plant, equipment and resources.
• Review and revise the plan when conditions, equipment or project requirements change.
Assessment
Workplace competence assessment and portfolio of evidence, using methods such as assessor observation, professional discussion, questioning, work products and suitable witness testimony. Internally assessed and quality assured by the centre, with external quality assurance by ProQual.
