The NPORS N016 Micro Excavator 360° up to 1 Tonne course develops the knowledge and practical skills needed to inspect, prepare and use the micro excavator 360° up to 1 tonne for its intended task. It covers components and controls, pre-use checks, work-area hazards, safe manoeuvring, operating tasks and shutdown procedures.

Plant operators who use, or are preparing to use, equipment in the micro excavator 360° up to 1 tonne category within construction, civil engineering, utilities, earthworks, agriculture or related workplaces.

Learning outcomes
• Explain industry hazards, safe working responsibilities and communication requirements.
• Identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
• Complete pre-use checks in line with manufacturer instructions and site requirements.
• Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out excavating tasks.
• Carry out excavating tasks.
• Reinstate excavation, grade and level ground.
• Complete safe shutdown, parking and securing procedures.
