The NPORS N119 Mast Climber course provides theory and practical instruction in preparing and using equipment in the mast climber category safely. It covers equipment information, components, inspections, work-area checks, setup, operation, emergency arrangements and shutdown or dismantling.

Operators and operatives who use, or are preparing to use, equipment in the mast climber category for work at height.

Learning outcomes
• Explain industry hazards, safe working responsibilities and communication requirements.
• Identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
• Complete pre-use checks in line with manufacturer instructions and site requirements.
• Erect mast climber as per manufacturer’s instruction taking into account ground pressures and securing methods.
• Configure the machine for accessing safely on level ground in open and confined areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures.
• Complete safe shutdown, parking and securing procedures.
